4. They're so busy covering their asses that they fail to grasp the obvious.
Edited on Fri Sep-26-08 03:48 PM by YOY
That their precious Reaganesque philosophy DOESN'T F***ING WORK! IT NEVER F***ING DID! We've been telling them this for years and the evidence was there for them but they didn't want to listen.

10. Thats funny...
I tried getting a loan for a home several years ago and couldn't because of credit and income problems, even though I was making a household income of over 50k.... sorry, the "fannie and freddie" thing wasn't available to everyone... there wasn't any sign her and I'll throw piles of money at you....

Thats not the entire problem. Wallstreet got greedy, the CEO's pocketed too much for themselves and shiped crap out of the country forgetting about the Americans that payed to keep them in business.

5. Although I disagree with him on some of his statements, I think he's got
this situation nailed, and to use the hackneyed phrase, he's speaking truth to power.

11. He is also trying to hoodwink you into giving a huge tax break
to the wealthiest Americans.

You think that if Bush was running again he would be saying what he is saying.

They are running against Bush... and themselves!

All REPUKES are EQUAL. Don't let any of the bastards off the hook and never, ever trust one.

These were the same McCain/Gramm assholes that deregulated the securities industry in the first place. Don't be distracted by something Carter did or even Clinton... it's not a bunch of poor people that caused this. It was the ability of the mortgage lenders to slice and dice the bad mortgages and make them into securities, securities that they prettied up with some other investments and then had a ratings firm mark as AAA, allowing all types of institutional investors to buy these securities. Not a few poor people buying a few lower priced homes. That's bullshit. MOST of these mortgages that have "gone bad" were for $250K or more.

Not the type of mortgage a poor person would even try to get qualified for.

13. Stand up like what?
rail against Bush, a complete lame duck who is hated by everyone?

Three is no risk for him to do this now.

I bet you this asshole voted with Bush 95% of the time or more.

He is a Bush enabler.

They are trying to hoodwink you into

a) voting them back into office

b) giving huge tax cuts and MORE deregulation to his fat cat donors.

Don't fall for this crap.

16. nope
i could give a crap about what that puke put up there. I just found it interesting that a repug stood up against his own party leaders and said what they wanted wasn't the answer, granted his proposal wasn't a ton better, but still usually you don't see repugs sticking their necks out like that.

17. True
but there are still a ton of repugs in the house and congress still support him, so for one to stick his neck out and say that bush is 100% wrong is something to be seen.

i don't agree with his plan or some of his later statements, but the first part of the vid is worth the look.

19. Actually, pretty much every repuke asshole
in congress (especially the house) is running as hard as they can away from Bush.

Not invited to speak that the Repuke convention (his final swan song as leader of the party).

Some repukes are running with a party affiliation of GOP (not Republican)... just to try and confuse the voters.

Don't give him too much credit here.

If he stood up and said "Why did John McCain return only to ruin days of negotiations and jeopardize our entire economy by not passing the bi-partisan bailout?" That would be worthy of note.

It's still not bad though. I seen that GOP thing and actually laughed out loud and scared one of my cats. I'm really enjoying Marcy Kaptur's stance.

9. You DO understand what the House Republicans are proposing
don't you?

2 years of no corporate taxes.

0 percent capital gains tax for investors.

MORE DEREGULATION of our financial services industry.

A Neocons wet dream.

And who will make up for the lost government revenue? YOU WILL. Or we have to cut even more programs.

All so that the fictional "money on the sidelines" will invest in corporations that are carrying 10's or 100's of billions in bad debt on their books. I think not. Not to mention that EVEN if we passed this and gave these greedy bastards everything they want, and even if a bunch of investors then said "Hey, that Chase/Wamu/Countywide conglomerate sure looks like a really good investment now, especially since they can avoid paying taxes AND whatever money *I* make I won't have to pay taxes on either. Hot damn. Better hustle down there and write them a check for a couple of million. And that has to happen 250,000 times for Wall street to clean up the bad debt.

Yup, 250,000 folks have to be convinced to throw 2 million dollars each after bad money.

And it all needs to happen by the end of next week (OK, in the next month) to avoid a credit meltdown.

Color me skeptical.

BTW, welcome to DU.

15. Yes I do
I don't agree with what they are proposing, I agree with his stance that bush and paulson are dead wrong in their approach and that congress/house is stepping back and not rushing into a deal that will cost us(taxpayers) more than we could ever recover from.

I just thought it was kinda interesting that a repug actually stood up and stated his mind and it wasn't 100% crap, only about 30%. lol.

18. Where are all jobs that the tax breaks were supposed to bring? I can't understand this at all
Giving tax breaks to the uber rich never helped our economy. What did Bush do when he wanted the economy to get moving? He instituted the so called economic stimulus package with checks to the middle class and the poor. Guess what? Will Rogers said he was always in favor of the trickle up philosophy. I think he was right.

20. I really liked him calling the Bailout a huge mistake. And I agreed with him until he got to
the part where he started talking about why he and the House Republicans supported Bush.

I didn't hear him talking about the Republican proposal, but if it's what lapfog says then it's more bullshit.

There are a lot of ways to go about solving this problem. McCotter nailed what's wrong with Paulson/Bush's bailout demand, now let's see the Dems put up a proposal AFTER some serious deliberation. I know they can come up with a good solution, but it seems like they are more interested in doing it fast than doing it right.

This is not the time for a politically-motivated RUSH JOB and right now the Dems seem to be equally concerned with spending a trillion without giving it even two weeks' thought. Very scary.

A dem from Oregon had a decent start, bring back the small trading fees to raise back some of the money on wallstreet, make them pay for it through the trading fee process. I'll post that vid here and in the vid forums.( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nUukDJCyqfM )

23. The Republicans
have controlled all or part of the Government for all but 2 of the last 28 years.

for 6 of the last 8 years, the Repukes controlled every last vestige of the Government. The executive branch and thus labor, justice, attorney general, omb, sec, every committee of every oversight in both branches of congress. Policy, enforcement, prosecution and the courts.

This is all the pukes fault.

The question is, will Democrats begin to clean it up before the election or after. just like 1932 and 1993. You fuck it up, we clean it up, the people forget what happened, put you back to fuck it up again, and redo the cycle. Go back 100 years in history, chart it, and show me where I'm wrong.

24. You are exactly right. They f it up and we fix it up.
usual fascist ideology, they steal every thing from our money to our rights and now trying our country. They act like since they have managed to lie cheat and steal and make money and hold it over several generations gives them the right to rule over us all. I used to think that folks that said things like that were either wrong of half a bubble off level. NEW WORLD ORDER that they repeat over and over they try to make us their peasants, and themselves kings , same families, same corporates same banks, same dirty tricks.
Don't believe me? google, do look it up. Now if i could find a hole deep enough I and my family would be down it, really we would. As it stands we are just poor folks with too much curiosity and internet.
