It was a video that was supposed to elicit soaring patriotism and real emotions about the Pledge of Allegiance. But to do that, it used fake soldiers and a staged military funeral instead of the real thing.

...................

There’s the Continental Congress…A real WWII vet…Photos of workers at Ground Zero. A close-up of a folded flag presented to a grieving widow at a military funeral… profiles of soldiers swelling with pride in slo-motion.

But CBS News found that the footage of the ‘funeral’ and soldiers is what is called ‘stock’ footage. The soldiers were actors and the funeral scene was from a one-day film shoot, produced in June. No real soldiers were used during production.

The footage, sold by stock-film house Getty Images was produced by a commercial filmmaker in Chicago. Both Getty and the production company, Mr. Big Films, confirmed that the footage was shot on spec and sold to the Republican National Committee.

One of the actors, Perry Denton of Chicago, IL also confirmed that he was hired on a day-rate as an actor for the shoot and told CBS News he was surprised to learn the footage was shown at the convention.

1. Their entire party is nothing but smoke and mirrors.
No ideas, no solutions... just theater.

3. The only authentic things about the Republican Party are greed and ignorance.

4. I agree with you on the greed, But
While Bush sounds like a drunk at his news conferences and has
a hard time completing a sentence ,, he is not ignorant when
it comes to his and Cheney's total destruction they have done
to our country and it's citizens.

Their destruction was a well planned policy. Bush and Cheney
has implemented a very corrupted and criminal policies , to
completely hand over our democracy , wealth , resources ,
manufacturing plants & jobs and the control of our
military to private , mercenary army ,,, so they would have
complete power and control over the citizens 24/7.

The republicans are still arrogantly waving the flag ,, while
they are selling our country and resources to the highest
bidder. Be it a terrorist nation , private contractors , or
any country , which will pay their price.

Many presidents have warmed us in the past of a
military-industrial complex trying to take over this country ,
like Kennedy , IKe and others , so the republican and others
has had this in the works for many years.

But it took two arrogant criminals ,with no concern for our
citizens or country to push it through in just 7 years.

5. Agree. My thinking was the ones in power are greedy, those that aren't are ignorant

thus keep voting for them against their own best interests. If there weren't so much ignorance then I don't think the Republicans would keep winning so many elections.
