3. Biden hits it out of the park, as well.
Biden and Obama demonstrated this morning how intelligent adults can discuss the issues. Those guys' responses made me feel as proud this morning as the Republicans made me feel shame for our country last night.

11. Notice the subtle use of past tense.

I predict you will see the Blue Team make that rhetorical shift steadily over the next week. Last week, they started the linguistic shift by saying consistently, "Look, he is an authentic hero, and we honor his service and we owe him our gratitude ... but we don't own him our vote."

Next week, that morphs into "As we have said many times, Senator McCain's service during the Vietnam war 40 years ago was heroic. His heroism during that era reminds us of the debt we owe to all who serve in uniform."

It may not sound like much difference, but we have 8 weeks to turn the POW issue into a reminder every time that McCain brings it up, that this guy is really old, and is probably 25 years past being fit for this office. But always say it with a smile and a tone of respect.

Respect your elders. The older they are, the more we should go out of our way to show them how much we respect what they did when they were young.

5. Interesting. The interviewers seem to take pause when Biden compliments
McCain or Palin. The RW won't be able to charge that he's saying vile, hateful things about them -- how will they handle that?

I think this approach is throwing a wrench into their works. Good.

9. It is the right move THIS WEEK
It is smart to roll with the convention punch. They can't keep McCain and Palin locked in seclusion forever. After this week, they will have to be out in public instead of preaching to the choir. And that is the time to drill them. But they don't have to be nasty. McCain and Palin are positioned wrong on almost every issue. They just have to hammer relentlessly on the relevant issues.

It is smart tactics in convention week to pull punches as both Biden and Dean did today -- compliment the style and point out we are seeing absolutely no substance. They can't force the GOP to talk about the substance as long as they are hiding out in their fortress.

But next week, it is a whole different game. You will see a different tone then.

8. Biden is a genius
He begins with a compliment to his opponents then tears them down without looking like a douche.

12. Howmad1 thanks for contributing to Democratic Underground
and I admire your posts here on this forum it has a lot of valid insight but I have to disagree with you on this one. If you can stick a knife into your opponent while coming off as a person taking the high road, a positive image of you will stick in the minds of voters while a negative image of your opponent is embedded. You're widening the gap between your positive points Vs your opponents'.
