1. That's how I learned it in 1953.
I still say it that way at all public events. I refuse to show respect for Joe McCarthy.

2. AMEN!
That is how many of us learned it. And we were not considered communists! Remember separation of church and state?

5. I remember that separation of church and state is how the Founders
wanted it. Too many now have no idea what that really means. :hi:

4. I think that was the way I first learned it
{i]Under God was added the following year.

I was in kindergarten. I didn't know what many of those words meant, and, to be honest, I still don't. If Plato could write his best-known treatise on the meaning of justice, why should I or any one else presume to know what it means?

7. Nothing at all.

That's the way I've said the Pledge my entire life.

Sure caused trouble for me when I was in grade school though. :(

9. yeah , maybe.
Calling a union ( i.e. collection of separate entities ) indivisible is damn stupid too. If Your truth is God is a " invisible man in the sky " that's fine please know it's My truth you will rot in hell. Isn't that rude, please be more respectful of the belief of others even the ones you don't agree with them.

13. I respect that but,
you can say you don't believe without belittling my beliefs or those of other who share them. See below ...just saying. I'm responding to a statement. I believe in the separation of church and state because because I don't need pulpit power brokers pushing talking points *Shara Palin*. I don't think that you have to share the faith of anther to respect it.

15. In that case....
You can't say you believe without belittling my lack of belief. Don't you see how it works both ways?

16. To say I belive "belittles You"?
If I like blue and you like green does that make me stupid? No, not at all. I say I believe and you do not, how does that belittle you? Did I say I am right and you wrong , no just different. Please don't box me into that us vs. them concept. I'm not against you because I don't share your views don't make me "that guy" PLEASE, however respect and honor our differences I pledge to do the same.
