Trade battles on the big screen at national conventions
If the presumptive presidential contenders and their advisors have still not figured out - ahem - the political costs of surrendering to so-called "free trade" policies of the NAFTA/WTO variety against the interest of, well, almost everybody, they might be surprised to find some people getting a little riled up about the issue at convention time: delegates to both the Democratic National Convention (August 25-28 in Denver) and the Republican National Convention (September 1-4 in St Paul) will be treated to a "sneak peak" viewing of the latest Hollywood indie extravaganza...

1. I was there in the streets, while Bill And Hillary were in
the suites schmoozing with their corporate masters.

3. When the so called anarchists threw the paper machine
through the window of the Starbucks, many believe to this day that it was agent provacateurs. I remember marching in downtown Seattle and as we passed the Seattle Symphony building telling someone not to put a circle A on the building. I think the whole demo got a bad name because of police agents.

I saw a cop rough up a woman and then send her back to the protest line she was sitting in and saying, "she's yours, take care of her." SCHMUCKS!

Having been there I'll know whether the movie takes a pro corporate and anti demonstrator point of view. It will be interesting. Either way it'll be way fun to relive the experience.

I hope they show Teamsters and Turtles walking side by side. The demonstrations were covered extensively by indymedia so there's no reason for the writers to get it too wrong.

The Battle for Seattle was THE most fun I've ever had at a demonstration (and I even protested King George the Shrub's first inauguration).

4. I wonder if the the movie will explore....
the sheer idiocy of choosing Seattle, a city with a long history of radical activism, as the location for the WTO convention.

I remember hearing about the choice beforehand and thinking, "Oh, man, are they gonna be sorry.".
