1. Well, it was a "report" on FOX
So, **OBVIOUSLY** it is all true! I'll hold off on an opinion until I hear something about this from a news source.

2. I've read about that technique a few years ago.
And they can also track you wherever you go because of that signal emitted by the cell phone.Even when you take the battery out you have to wait for about 20 minutes because of capacitors
remaining charged for that period and continuing to send that signal.

3. Open your cell phone, at the top is there a diamond with a + sign
in it? Thats the gps tracking signal. It's for you own good in case you have to call 911 and can't respond, OR if you were to go out late at nite and cause a certain mischief at a warehouse that happened to house voting machines then they could find out who was there, cause they know most people would take their phones and not bother to turn it OFF.

LOL

4. No news to me. My phones have been tapped for years.
Edited on Mon Aug-18-08 10:38 AM by bobd0
But I'm sure they've improved the technology because I no longer hear the evidence of the phone taps -- the numbers being tone dialed, the voices in the background, the buzzing, popping, and clicking sounds, etc.

Prior to the admission that phone companies were indeed aiding the government in illegal domestic spying we used to call the phone company to have a technician come out to check our lines. The technicians used to hear all of the above for themselves. Funny thing though, they were never able to "fix" the problems.

I keep my cell off at all times. I only have one for emergencies. Not that it makes any difference, but now I'll keep it off and without the battery installed too.

Welcome to The Brave New World. We're screwed. It's already too late to defeat the technology or the people who are so willing to abuse it.

5. If anyone's listening on my phone, they pretty much get what they deserve
I hope they have strong stomachs and don't mind listening to all my rants on the state of my bowels...

7. Orwell was right and here's a true story
Edited on Mon Aug-18-08 02:37 PM by digidigido
In 1986 I was looking for an answering machine for my telephone. The guy in the store showed me this Panasonic machine
and the selling point (since I had a new child and was going to need babysitters) was that when someone hung up, the line
stayed active for 30 seconds so I could hear what was going on in the room after the babysitter hung up. 1986.
Orwell was right

8. I had a phone/answering machine with a "room monitor" feature
in the early 90s

You could call from a remote location, punch in a code, and hear everything going on in the house.

Turning off the ringer, you could probably get away with listening in without anyone ever knowing a thing.

I don't even know if they sell those things anymore.

The brand was "Cobra"
