Uh, yeah, of course. When a Democrat makes a very human mistake (sins of the flesh), it is an impeachable offense and should bar him/her from politics and elected office for the rest of his/her life.

When a Repubican makes the same sins of the flesh mistake, over and over again, it is simply "youthful indescressions."

and my heart goes out to his family for what he has put them through. But for anyone to say this shows that repukes are somehow morally superior, when infidelity seems to be a requirement for membership to the repuke party and as often as not, with a member of their own sex (not that there's anything wrong with that)), well that is just the best example ever of people seeing only what they want to see.

The man was supposed to be talking about and apologizing about his affair. Then he brings McCain into it only to mention that he doesn't want to talk about McCain. Yeesh. Kind of reminds me how he brought up Cheney's daughter during the 2004 debates.

but he's definitely not at a point where he has totally accepted responsibility to himself for his actions.

He will never get over this, it will haunt him for the rest of his life because he really is sensitive and if he's really a narcissist as was stated somewhere on DU that issue can eat him up.

into the pile, this same thing happened in my family and my biggest concern was trying to figure out why.

It's a hard thing to live with from either side and really very painful and sad. Fortunately, most of us here are quite forgiving and care about each other and our candidates. I wish the Edwards family all the best. :)

It seemed so orchestrated. A gotcha-moment that fell flat and made him look small, IMO. His, "yes, I did it but so did mccain" response is equally as shallow. I agree, both were in terrible taste.

So he had an affair. Lots of people do that. It's not really the business of the public....it's his wife's business.

The things that make him a good politician have nothing to do with his love life or whether John Q Public approves of how he handles his private life. The man has the right public values, and the right politics. Don't throw a good politician under the bus because he got caught doing what most of YOU have done yourselves.
