Portrays Obama a some kind of self-righteous jerk then under minds his ability

Best of all - It changes the conversation

2. Thanks for your "concern". Try watching all of McCain's negative ads at once.
He comes across as .... obsessed with his opponent. BLOWBACK is coming.

3. I think it could go either way
whether and how Obama responds to it, and especially how the media handles it, will determine whether it helps or hurts McCain.

4. I wish it would fall back on him
I'm not that comfortable with the "Sound Byte" mentality of the average voter thou.

I wish Obama would take back the "Sound Byte" and come up with a few NEW sound bytes to add to the conversation. I beleive for a moment the Repukes could defend theirselves in a conversation concerning the "health of the American way of life"

13. I agree
It's a great ad. It takes clips out of context to write a narrative and then decides the ad is about something that is actually important (leadership) which isn't actually covered in the ad, but the idea is that if you buy into the narrative, that Obama somehow (in a format that presents itself as a logical if-then construct) can't lead. It doesn't make actual sense, but it doesn't have to.

5. This one is going to hurt Obama
But he can't respond directly. That would only "catapult the propaganda". He needs to start hammering McCain with everything from the Keating S&L scandals to Bushco's 3rd term. If he can't or won't do that, John McCain is going to be our next president.

16. How? Are you kidding me?
I saw the ad and thought, WTF? What is the point? All the McBushes are doing is pointing out that Obama has a voice and is popular.
Silly me, I thought campaign ads were supposed to point out the strengths of the candidate?

This ad is a joke. Really, I think it's funny.

6. Thanks for the ad spotlighting Obama's sense of humor there old man
the part about the light-you can clearly see John Popper and the rest of the crowd laughing. The Lara Logan part (thanks for showing HER with Obama too) shows him laughing at himself.

Too long and just stupid.

9. Wonkette: John McCain’s EPIC New Ad Loves Barack Obama!
http://wonkette.com/401637/john-mccains-epic-new-ad-loves-barack-obama#more-401637

Oh man, this ad is so much better than “Celeb.” While that last one was creepy, this one is funny (or rather, “less creepy”), and expensive-looking, and has an upbeat soundtrack, and says all sorts of nice things about Barack Obama! Also, McCain *finally* admits that Barack Obama freed the Jews from Egypt back when he was a state senator in Illinois.

We don’t get it. Where’s the attack? Probably he’s trying to tell the Fundies that voting for Barack Obama is like worshiping the golden calf false idol. Same message for the Florida Jews. Oh God, so it actually is just as creepy as the Britney Spears ad.

Now here’s a thing, check out this Satirical still of the yellow, “heavenly” horizons that appear throughout the video:

(pic from vid: The World Shall Receive His Blessings)

And compare to this very not Satirical, and widely mocked, poster that John McCain has been selling in his famous Online Store:

(poster)

So is McCain secretly making fun of himself here? Of course, because that’s all he ever does, and he doesn’t even know it.

The Bitters must be so fucking confused.

Sorry, Wonkette will not allow me to copy the picture locations and I don't have time to save and upload them just now.

11. God, McCain is desperate!
The doddering old fool has nothing positive on which he can run so his only hope is to try to diminish Obama. It's really tragic, yet McCain is so emblematic of the Republican Party - old, tired, twisted, and out of touch with reality.

I wrote a column that was published today in my local newspaper slamming both the newspaper and McCain. It's titled No Regard For Truth or Integrity.

It's time we all pointed out what a truly deficient candidate McCain is.

12. This is the way that little girls fight.
Edited on Fri Aug-01-08 06:13 PM by JDPriestly
At the risk of being called sexist, I will tell you a story about little girls and little boys.

I know a little girl who started a "friendship club." All the other girls were invited to join except one little girl of whom the organizer was jealous. That's a typical girl's thing to do. Naturally, the other girl started her own club and did not invite the organizer of the "friendship club" to join. Girls, girls, girls.

Boys ridicule other boys outright and then start a physical fight. Sometimes girls do that, but less often than boys.

Takes a little girl's mind to think up these kinds of "she thinks she's so smart" ads.

These ads do not make McCain look manly.

Problem is, his little giggle when he talks also makes him look kind of girlish. I wonder if he also wiggles when he walks. I haven't seen his behind walking away yet, but, if his recent ads are any indication, I think will see his backside wiggling away from us after the November election.

Last laugh's best, McCain.

I am glad Adkisson is in custody - but there are lots more heavily armed religious zealots with nothing to lose ready to take up the cause.

15. THIS crap is what all of the fuss is about??!
Good grief. This is the dumbest, most homemade looking video I've ever seen.

And there are people in this thread saying it will "hurt Obama." How???! McCain is running ads saying that Obama is The One. The One, folks! And if by The One he means the next president, he's FINALLY right about something!

McCain KNOWS he has no business running for Pres, Barack knows it too which is why he made the statement about McCain focusing on asinine things like "he's not patriotic enough" and "doesn't look like the other presidents on the dollar bills" in an effort to scare people away. All McCain did with this ad was give Obama ANOTHER topic to add to his list of dumbass things the Repubs will do to to pull attention from McCain's lifeless, outdated campaign and policies. This is too pitiful to believe.

17. Hehe, just spent a few minutes over there playing with the funged up McLame lovers.
Some of those posters are batshit crazy!

Funny, the Anti-Christ subliminal crud went right over the heads of a couple of them. They're beside themselves worrying that McLame is promoting Obama as The One! LOL

18. Judging from the comments on CNN's Political Ticker
about this unbelievable ad, I would say Obama has nothing to fear. It is nearly universally ridiculed.

20. I'm not sure who Lara Logan is
But if you mean the blonde who asks, "Do you have any doubts"

Obama responds, "No", but the ad dubs it as "never".
