What an incredible debate! It's absolutely crucial that this video not disappear.

I had read the discussions yesterday. Now that I have seen the video, I am actually pleasantly surprised by how Gregory, Smerconish, and Ford conducted themselves. Maddow's talents and fine conduct are of course no surprise to me, but tremendously appreciated!

Fighting racism is going to be a long haul. Honest discussions about double standards in the MSM and on the national stage are essential to moving forward.

Is "negative attack" a euphemism now for "LIE"? What's wrong with using the real word for it?

I think it's relevant to the voters... if a candidate is willing to lie now to win, he'd lie later if elected. This whole "flip-flopping" standard the Rs made up is to distract people from that real issue, and replace a simple real standard with a false and subjective one.

91. I wish she had asked one/all of them directly why they didn't raise Cain

about McCain calling himself the President. Sometimes, the damning truths we have about the Republicans are so enormous, its seems almost like foul play to really take them to task on them, in a very specific way.

Another example, of course, was the nut-job who pretended that the Democrats hadn't won a majority of the working-class vote, when it is voluminously documented by some of the most prestigious bodies that mammoth election fraud and voter suppression took place - not least by the Supreme Court.

Of course, his advice that Obama should dress down was very mischievous. The urban myth that there were blokes who voted for Bush the first time, at least, because "he seemed the kind of guy you could have a drink with" may have some truth in it! But they would view the Bush family, HST called "yuppies" (Bush senior's grandmother was, I believe, "old money", but his grandfather has been described as a "glorified tyre-salesman"), as old-money toffs, so it would seem to them like a kind of compliment.

However, for Obama, who looks, sounds and acts in an impressively patrician, yet sincerely empathetic, modest way, to dress up in casual clothes and a baseball cap would be an insult to the marginalised black and white communities, and rightly perceived as such by them. They want him to raise them, not patronise them. Maybe Rachel should have asked matey if he thought Obama should wear a baseball cap, back-to-front style.
