On Saturday, February 10 Labor leaders, legislative representatives, activists, community leaders and others gathered on the steps of Atlanta City Hall to urge the Georgia Legislature to pass an increase in the minimum wage. Originally scheduled as a gathering on the steps of the State Capitol, those plans were dashed Republican Glenn Richardson denied (though he denies doing so) the working families of Georgia the right to gather on the Capitol steps. Thanks to the generosity of Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin, who made the City Hall steps (just around the corner) available, the rally was a success even on a chilly morning in Atlanta.
