Small Kenyan Village Rooting for Obama
The Associated Press
Barack Obama's father was a black scholarship student who traveled from his small village in Kenya to attend the University of Hawaii. Now residents in Kisumu, Kenya are rooting for the man who could become the first African-American President. (June 3)

Dateline: Kisumu, Western Kenya
Notes: NATS UP "Obama, Obama..." The race for the White House is garnering attention throughout the world ... But in this small village in Kenya .... It has a special meaning.
William Oching, (English) "I am coming from same village Obama's father is from (Siaya) I am praying for Obama to become President of the United Sates as a black person he might be the first black person to become President of the United States

It's here where Barack Obama's father called home until his death in 1982. Local men and women marked the occasion with ..... Senator beer. Drinking and keeping tabs on how Obama's doing

6. I remember how excited the Irish were by John F. Kennedy's election, much the same...
There's such a sense of kinship. This is so great.
