It's all in how things are covered. I can promise you that if this had been Obama, this clip would be played all day for two months straight we'd hear cries of "inexperienced," and the talking heads would be saying how this is a critical error that is a reflection on his fitness for the job of commander and chief of our nation's fine military and all of that silly bullshit.

I do think it's problematic that McCain is apparently unable to count.
