My sound card is on the fritz so I can't hear what anyone says.

4. The woman says, "It's in the BIBLE -- a woman's place is in the home"
I'm starting to believe the rumors that KY won't be quite such a
blowout for her.

5. Poorest county in Ky one of the poorest in the country
One woman just isn't sure about Obama but another woman is sure about Hillary "It's BIBLE (slams hand on lunch counter) the woman's place is in the home!!"

Actually this report does show the apathy and well deserved apathy the poor have for the whole process but I had to attract attention thus the subject line

2. Then what the hell is she doing there?
Oh. Right. She wuz raised in a burger joint.

After watching this video, I've decided that I believe the primaries should be held in order of which states pay the highest into the Federal system, to the lowest.

26. She's there because...
Edited on Tue May-20-08 06:30 PM by SunDrop23
she's a Bible thumping hypocrite.

She'd probably say she was happy Sen. Kennedy has cancer cause of "whut he diyud to dat gurl..." or something rich like that.

A woman's place is in the home...unless she's in this har burger joint.

Love thy neighbor...unless'n that neighbor is black or gay.

23. this really deserves a front page post
I mean, could you have a better illustration of Obama's comment? These folks are so soured on the political process, they don't even want to vote. They think that it doesn't make any difference to their daily lives who gets in the office, and make their choices, if they even decide to choose, based on things besides political promises.

Obama has said before that he had a poor choice of words with that comment, but can you watch a clip like this and NOT acknowledge the truth at its core?

9. "A woman's place is in the home"
IT'S IN THE BIBLE!

Says the woman standing BEHIND the counter in the diner.

But the guy who says "nothing will change for us here unless a poor man runs for president," broke my heart.

14. I'm not surprised at all. I live in Georgia and I'm a native Southerner.
It's awful that these folks don't vote and, if they do, they vote Republican. John Edwards speaks for these very poor people. Too bad they didn't have a chance to vote for him.

18. yeah, I wonder if the real reason they won't vote is because
they've been told over and over that McCain is a liberal, and... well, I'll stop there.

I grew up in rural Kentucky, so I suppose there's hope but I also know how the majority of folks in small towns like that think.

34. In the hills of West Virginia, people don't vote or even
register because they'll 'git called fur jury duty'. Can't even tell you how many times I heard that excuse. Even when told that jury selection comes from driver's license lists, they still won't register to vote. Some myths are just too powerful to let go.

25. I really think the number of people who will not vote for Obama...
because he is an African-American is alot BIGGER than any of the pundits suspect. And not just in places like Clay County. I mean right here in Raleigh NC there are plenty of people who were taught that "non-white equals bad" and have never shed that racist mentality. And don't even get me started on the western part of the state.

I think i've driven through there a couple of times.

I would be utterly shocked if KY could ever go Dem. "It's bible" pretty well sums it up :eyes:

Lury bout him ... HAH. I don't feel sorry for these people. If they want to vote against their own interests because of their bigotry, then to hell with them.

29. unfortunately, they ARE bitter and abandoned...
and for those picking on Kentucky and West Virginia, I say, take a trip through Mississippi. Kentucky and West Virginians may be ignorant because of poverty, but they aren't stupid, and I haven't found that many who were racist; definitely friendly, talkative folks up there.

80% of white Mississippians on the other hand, are mostly bigoted and scary, not ignorant, but definitely stupid. The other Mississippians on DU know what I mean, and share my lament, probably.
