Daily Kos diarist and blogger (at OldManMcCain.com) Existenz makes an excellent catch: today, John McCain falsely claimed that under Ronald Reagan, American hostages were released from Iran without any negotiations. Um...what about Iran-Contra and the arms-for-hostages scandal?

4. One thing this video doesn't point out-
Some of Reagan's campaign aides did meet with the Iranians. They suggested got the terrorists to keep the hostages a few weeks longer and release them on the day of Reagan's inauguration in order to embarrass Carter.

I'm really not a hateful person, but I hate the Reaganites who were involved with Iran. Not the most egregious crimes against humanity I could pick, but the hypocrisy of it really gets me on a visceral level.

5. He "forgets" this travesty?
I'm _almost_ going to feel sorry for McCain when BO eviscerates him in the GE. "Forget", indeed.

You ever see one of those cartoons when the Coyote gets shot with one of his own weapons, and walks away like nothing is wrong? Then takes a drink of water, and starts springing leaks? Like that.

7. Few people realize that it was Reagan pulling out of Beruit after
the USMC barracks bombing that set the stage for todays problems. Almost all terrorist attacks against us can be directly related to that act; even bin-Laden stated that he saw it as an act that proved the US didn't have the stomach to stick it out...so attacks against American interests increased. The WTC horror can be directly linked to Reagans action, as can all of the other attacks as well.

Nice going Ronnie...what a damn fool...but he "talked tough"...:grr:

12. McCain didn't forget anything
as I am sure you are all aware... He is lying - just look at his beady little eyes darting around as he hopes that no one calls him on his BS. I truly hope that he says some shit like this in a debate with Obama and Obama calls him on it.

The new Republican slogan should be, "The other party wants to negotiate with terrorists. That's not good enough - our party ARMS the terrorists!"

Shame on Raygun and Ollie and that whole group of treasonous criminals. May they all burn in hell for what they have done to the US and the world (Latin America in particular). I am sure that Ronnie is saving the others a seat in the fiery pit.

13. Even worse, noone acknowledges that he did it behind a sitting US presidents back
Carter was still in office while Reagan was negotiating behind a sitting US President's back.

Imagine Obama negotiating with Iran while Bush is still president.,

16. "Peace through strength" = War Through Weakness
Sure, give a hostile nation inferiors weapons so we can build up our military industrial complex. Any simpleton can do that.

Domestically, if we elect a liar, we are in danger here at home. Instead if we promote American ingenuity we will be the dominate power in the world. No need for a simpleton as President to do that.

to assure the hostages were not released before election day 1980.

And, Oliver North is a convicted felon for lying to Congress and for his part in it.
