Hillary is speaking at the North Carolina Jefferson-Jackson Dinner.
She say she will support Obama if he is the Nominee. The crowd erupts into Obama chants.

1. Looks like she was expecting big cheers for saying she'd support Obama.
Edited on Sat May-03-08 01:22 AM by speedoo
She evidently does not realize how many bridges she's burned.

The crowd there either didn't believe her "promise", or they didn't care... they just wanted her to just go away. Real Democrats know what you are, Hillary.

5. There are people on DU who dismiss
the rudeness of Obama supporters here and say that anyone who chooses a candidate based on what anonymous message board members say is wrong.

Of course there should be more to choosing a candidate than that. But the rudeness of the Obama supporters on DU is no different than the rudeness I have seen in real life. The Obama people at this event were rude. I am glad that there were people there chanting "Hillary" as well.

Wake up, people. If Obama is the nominee, your attitude and behavior is going to turn off many potential voters. You will lose this election for us yet.

6. Excuse me?
Apparently you don't have a mirror. I've seen nothing but slander and lies from the Clinton camp and it's supporters. It goes both ways. I won't "Kyle" out either way, but I support Obama, and if hell froze over and Hillary stole it from Obama, I'd vote for her. I don't like her double speak and rovian tactics personally, and IF I have to vote for her, I'll do it holding my nose.

8. "Rovian tactics."
It's good to know you have your talkings points down. If I ever hear an original thought from an Obama supporter I will probably faint.

19. Go look in your own mirror.
I have not been rude to you or to any other Obama supporter in this thread. All I have to do here is disagree with an Obama supporter to get attacked personally.

This is rude behavior. Period. So was the chanting. Period.

21. Rudeness
Ummm... really?

I'm good friends with a lot of Hillary's supporters. I also think a lot of Hillary supporters are jackasses. What difference does it make to what Hillary is? I don't dislike her because of other people. I admit that it stings if she wins a primary and a Hillary supporter taunts me about it or something, but Hillary didn't personally say it to me.

Also, your sample of Obama supporters is people who post on DU. Although I often agree with the substance of posts, I will admit that lots of Obama supporters are annoying. So what? Maybe I don't respect the manner the message was presented... but Obama isn't taunting you. Guilt by loose association with outspoken bloggers is about the most ridiculous reason I have ever heard for not supporters a candidate. Pure spite.

People are people. Clearly because you disagree with someone on a fundamentally important subject, you will harbor some animosity toward the person you differ from. That's just human nature. But get over your initial response as you think about how silly it is to then take that dislike and foist it upon another party who those rude people happen to support. That's basically saying that you are going to punish Obama for accepting the support of rude people.

I would be ultra pissed off if Hillary won. And I've got tons of reasons that I wouldn't vote with her. But none of those reasons have anything to do with some random Hillary supporter said.

22. Go back and reread my post.
I find the rudeness of Obama supporters on DU and their personal attacks insufferable.

And I live in Illinois. I am involved with politics. I see many, many Obama supporters here and I saw them in Iowa. There has been rudeness and hatefulness on a level I have seen only from republicans in the past.

There has been too much similarity between the face to face behavior of the Obama supporters and the DU Obama supporters for me to dismiss it as just one of those things.

Does this sting me because I am a Clinton supporter? No. It stings me because I am a Democrat. I want to win in November. We need to win in November. Obama and his supporters are turning off many potential voters. I don't think he can win.

11. Those Obama supporters are just so rude!
There is no way I am ever going to vote for a candidate whose supporters are so rude! And before I get any snide replies, yes indeed I DO intend on having my perception of the behavior of each candidate's supporters determine who I am going to vote for. So there!

lol

12. They did it last time too. Obama had the supporters bused in
and they were rude. A shame really. It is funny when you think of as they pretend they want Obama because he is a "different kind of candidate" and they always talk about how he is not overly emotional and he is measured in his demeanor. And then his supporters act in an embarrassing idiotic way.

This event wasn't stacked, Obama doesn't have to do that.

17. Not entirely.
My daughter was a college Democrat in Iowa during the Kerry campaign. She and some of her fellow students were bussed into a Jefferson-Jackson dinner during that time. They did not get to eat, but they were in seats for the speeches given after dinner. That is not at all uncommon during election years at some of the larger JJ dinners.

15. I agree -- that was rude.
I'm glad there was a Hillary chant that got going.

Granted, it was the JJ Dinner, but they could all be chanting at appropriate times -- not during a candidate's speech.

I'm sorry that happened.

And (sigh) the usual qualifier: I'm an Obama supporter.
