3. 1 tank of gas in 6 weeks

Granted I live in a temperate climate, but every chance I get I ride my bike. If I can carry it on my bike, I park the truck. And I've lost 15lbs.

If half of us would start to do this we could just about end our dependency on foreign oil. If 1/10 of us did it, gas would drop in price. So quit your complaining. If you don't absolutely need a big-ass truck or SUV - GET RID OF IT! Watching these idiots with their huge gas-guzzling vehicles complaining would be comical if it weren't for the fact that in the end it is them that perpetuate us being slaves to the very oil companies they're complaining about.

But a bike, or even a scooter. Quit waiting for some politician to "save you" so you can keep the over-indulgent life-style you've come accustom to, because it's gone no matter who gets elected.

Gas will NEVER go down in price unless demand for it is diminished and even if we do conserve gas will go up as other developing countries increase their demand. What's inevitable - is inevitable.

4. i'm glad it's easy for you

but for those of us with families and with too much to carry on a bike who can't afford to live in cities (close to work) it's just not realistic. I bike/walk when i can, but that doesn't put food on the table.

my lifestyle is FAR from over-indulgent. I can see that label on some people, but please don't generalize the rest of us.

i don't like waiting for poli's to save me, but i don't think it's wrong to hope that one will come along and will tell big oil to fuck off and invest in alternative fuels and better transit systems and a better economy so that i don't have to commute so far to work.

5. The fringe "Greenies"

would have us peddling everywhere and farting in plastic bags - er, ah, reuseable canvas bags - to save the earth. This MIGHT work in a perfect world. This place is FAR from perfect at the moment.
Our domestic auto makers have kept pumping out thristy V8, V10 barges because they claimed that's what everyone wanted/wants. And in a nation where your worth is judged by how much power you weild, maybe they were/are right. Chaps my rear tho that Detroit was caught with it's technological pants down while the Japs were selling Hybrids even BEFORE Gas eclipsed 2 bucks a gallon. And we whupped those Nips with technology in WWII !
