Having behind us the commercial interests and the laboring interests and all the toiling masses, we shall answer their demands for a gold standard by saying to them, you shall not press down upon the brow of labor this crown of thorns. even though he was a christian fundie in things and a prohibitionist, Bryan was always in support of the commoner.

he reminds me of john quincy adams, and to today's extent, john edwards. three men who haven't gotten their due.

2. oh yeah the Scopes Trial comes to mind

Bryan is a compelling figure though, and history is always worth revisiting.

Bryan, Adams and Edwards, yeah you're right I think, they haven't gotten their due. I think Edwards is a guy who could do for poverty what Al Gore has done for global warming. :)
