15. Have you actually read A Course in Miracles? How about her book "A Return to Love"?
Before making a judgement or calling her names,. might I suggest taking some time to read some of her writings, learn what the Course in Miracles is all about (a powerful process of shifting our thought process to embrace love and letting go of fear) and discover some of the incredible work she has done to impact the lives of millions (mine included- she is/was one of my most important teachers).

She is also one of the persons, along with Dennis Kucinich, who has been working for years to create a Department of Peace.

29. Too bad- her writing and her books changed my life in a huge way.
As did her tapes and the many workshops I've taken with her. I hope you will give her another try. If not, that's ok too- she might not be the right teacher for you. I realize that not every teacher speaks to every person- especially when it comes to spiritual awareness. For me however, I discovered Marianne at a point in my life when her wisdom was very welcome and extremely helpful. Even today, I often go back and re-read portions of A Course in Miracles or replay some of the tapes I have of Marianne speaking on various topics.

Edited on Tue Mar-18-08 07:48 PM by saracat
because she wouldn't support someone just because they were a women? I could understand that. I said that about Hillary myself but I couldn't imagine any males I know saying they weren't voting for Barack or any other male because they weren't voting with their penis!And she certainly isn't being "peaceful and nonjudgemental" with that statement.

49. She might have been making a point
Perhaps she's been assaulted, as I have, by women who are angry with me because I won't vote with my vagina.

It's not a dirty word. And I don't think she meant it literally.

That seems difficult, if not impossible.

30. For you, Saracat
One of many things that have stayed with me since watching HBO's mini-series "John Adams" on Sunday.

The miniseries' second installment, titled "Independence," begins in 1775 with that second congress. Adams finds himself a respected but unpopular member of the club.

Benjamin Franklin (Tom Wilkinson) is talking to John Adams (Paul Giamatti) about the ways and wherefores of politics. Franklin chided JA about a speech JA gave in opposition to a vote, telling JA that he lost anyway, and all that was served was that he made enemies over it. The witty Benjamin Franklin cautions JA to be more "politic" in his pronouncements.

"Do you not believe in saying what you think?" Adams asks with some astonishment.

"No" the learned Franklin responds, "thinking aloud is a habit responsible for much of mankind's misery. You said your piece and created enemies in its wake."

(Something perhaps worth giving some thought to.)

37. here's to US-from Marianne's Prayer for the Higher Self
(and for America, on this the 5th anniversary of the occupation of Iraq, the 49th anniversary of the Tibetan Uprising to end Chinese Rule, and the passing of the torch from JFK and MLK Jr to Barack Obama)

Dear God
In this one moment I recognize that there is
within me a perfect Self:
A Self that is not dysfunctional;
A Self that is not weak but strong;
Not limited, but unlimited;
Not small but huge;
Not in pain but peace;
Not faithless and scared but all-knowing, all
loving, serene and calm and happy through
the grace of God.
I have been playing with toys of death and
weakness.
I have been playing at sickness and playing
at addiction.
I have been playing at dysfunction and limita-
tion and war.
I have been playing at hunger and violation of
myself and others.
I have been playing with toys that are dangerous.
But I desire to play the games of death no more.
In this moment I ask you dear God, to release
me from my destructive thinking.
I take up now the mantle of Your magnificence...
I invoke your light...
I step out of my childhood, into my adulthood;
out of my weakness, into my strengths, out
of my fear into my love, out of my small
self, into You...

from
"Illuminata - A Return to Prayer"
#1 National Bestseller
by Marianne Williamson

I know this will not go over your head. America, your dreams are waiting for you to come true.

11. I love Marianne
Thanks for posting this. She always inspires me - what she said about feminists from the 70's taking on that hard masculine stance in order to prove our own strength - to me, that's what Hillary represents. To me, that's a false representation of the great Feminine Principle.

Marianne's challanging all the Hillary supporters who go around saying stuff like "you're a traitor to your gender if you're a woman and you don't support Hillary." I'm with her on that.

Thanks for posting. There are some really off-the-wall comments here about her, - I appreciate the post anyway.

Thanks for posting that ~ I've thought the same thing about Barack having a more "feminine" approach (healing this country, building bridges, etc.) than Hillary's.

28. Do you really want to know?
Under the assumption that the answer is yes, I'll tell you.

It's a challange to all those feminsists who are trying to manipulate women with comments/writings like "you are a traitor to your gender if you don't support Hillary."

Believe me, there are plenty of them out there.

But the thing is, the feminist movement was about expanding the choices that individuals have, both women and men of all races, to make decisions based on what is right for them and what is in their hearts, not to be have to go along with others expectations for them.

That's what her comment was about. Pushing back on other women who are pressuring us women to support Hillary simply because she's a woman.

57. what about how the Obama supporters are
Edited on Wed Mar-19-08 06:37 PM by rodriguez94
encouraging blacks to vote for Obama because he is black...afterall, they have never had a black man get this far before in the Presidential election..and it might be there only opportunity to vote for a black candidate...this is no difference in that and what you are accusing Hillary's camp of doing.

Racism, Reverse Racism, Sexism and Reverse Sexism...they are all the same...bullshit and have no place in a presidential campaign as we have seen it thus far.

That seems to me to be the "hot button issues" of this election...

What about poverty, health care, the economy...

Oh yeah, that's right, the only candidate that talked about issues that effect every single American was John Edwards, the white guy...the one the media refused to give any air time too..the candidate whose supporters were attacked by the Obamanites months ago...way before South Carolina...accused of all of being KKK members, calling John the 'great white southern hope'. saying everyone at his KKK rallies were racist...

I already knew racism still existed in this county, in fact, I had arguments with Obama supporters ( a young black girl by the way) who stuck me down it didn't exist anymore...but now, since Reverend Wrong spouted off, suddenly, now the Obama camp all are very much aware of the racism in this country...whatever..I am so over Obama and it is mostly due to the hateful remarks of his supporters that I and other Edwards supporters endured for months...

And now, to watch Hillary being attacked practically daily, sexist remarks about her appearance, her hair, pantsuits, her emotions and yet no one pays that any attention...no one is outraged...a feminist such as this lady calls herself doesn't find that offensive? I don't think she has a vagina quite frankly, sounds to be like she has a big dick!

Oh, and by the way, we use optical scan machines in NC and I damn sure am glad she wont' be 'scanning her vagina'. What a fucking joke.

39. I used to see her every Monday night when she spoke at a venue here
in L.A. and her messages have effected me in a profound way. She wrote the following for part of Nelson Mandela's famous speech:

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light not our darkness, that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you NOT to be?
Your playing small doesn't serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you.
We were born to make manifest the Glory of God that is within us.
It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone.
And as we let our light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

I read this everyday.
I'm glad she's not going to "vote with her vagina."
