Hi kids!!
I'm hoh. Started when I was in my 20's - sensory neural hearing loss. It's been fairly progressive. I can read lips a little (self-taught) and CC TV is a GREAT, when it works properly. Hearing aids don't help - they just amplify gibberish and drive me crazy.

Soooo, I'm wondering how you guys are dealing with the utube thing. Lately I'm clicking on links which are utube videos. without any commentary other than 'that's great' etc.

1. I don't understand why hearing aids don't help.
Sensory neural hearing loss is a very common type of hearing loss, and modern hearing aids are available to deal with it.

Mine filter out the noise and help immensely.

2. Can you give me some more info
brand, etc. Were you fitted with them from an otologist or audiologist? Both told me that I'm not a candidate  I'm almost totally deaf in one ear. Thanks :hi:

3. An audiologist
Here in Denver. He was recommended to me by my regular doctor. The hearing-aid brand is Starkey, which I believe is the biggest company in the biz.

I wrote a longish essay about my experiences here: http://www.dvorkin.com/essays/hearing.html

Not that any of this proves anything. Your case may be entirely different from mine. Still, it would probably be a good idea to get some other medical opinions.
