Going to Germany this summer!
My husband is going to play trumpet in a polka band that will play concerts at festivals and community events in between sightseeing for about ten days. Our itinerary takes us from Frankfurt to the Munich area, a day in Austria, and back up to northwest of Frankfurt, including a day on a river cruise. We don't know the group we'll be traveling with -- we're 50 and they're likely to be ten to 20 years older. But it sounds like fun.

We're celebrating our 30th anniversary in March so this will be our anniversary trip in July. I can't wait! :)

1. You are going to love it
Bring good walking shoes, we are in Heidelberg have been here 4 years, coldest winter here now, its miserable. It rains alot here also, and cools off really quick, even in July. So bring warm clothes also. Ran into an American couple in Strasbourg, last year and the women had on shorts, said everyone was starring at her, not something you see over here. We celebrated our 30th over here also, bring a good camera. If you have any questions let me know. Sounds like fun.

2. We're staying in Heidelberg the first night.
Here's the description of our day in Heidelberg after we fly into Frankfurt at 10:30 a.m.

"Later that afternoon, a Guided Tour is arranged. We are now in the cradle of the “German Romantic Era”; (…”I lost my heart in Heidelberg”… many of you might recall that folksong.) The guide will show us the Historic Old Town, the Castle with famous court yard and huge Wine Barrel, etc. etc. etc… (Heidelberg has gorgeous street café’s, where you find the best pastries, while zipping coffee, enjoying a tumbler of Brandy, watching the people strolling by.) There might even be some “free time” for us to enjoy and take in some nightlife!!!" (I believe the leader of our group is German.)

We're also staying in Munich, Inzell, and Limburg, three days each, with sightseeing in the vicinities. I bought a laminated map and marked all the places we're visiting. It looks like Heidelberg to Munich and Inzell to Limburg, both with stops on the way, will be the longest legs of the trip.

Thanks for the tips and offer of further advice. I'll definitely keep you in mind. :hi:
