Traveling to Africa
I have an adult child living in Kenya, and, therefore, a once in a lifetime opportunity to take a trip to Africa.

The airfares are really, really high. I am willing to make other stops, even do a round the world thing.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to get the best airfare for something like this?

1. I would look at Virgin Atlantic via London.
I'm assuming you are coming from CA somewhere.

It depends also on how long you wish to stay, you can reduce the cost if you leave your depart and return dates flexible.

From LAX to London to Nairobi and back the same way you could go for about $2,200 before taxes.

2. I found a killer fair - $1025
It's on Turkish Airlines and has only one stop (Istanbul) from LAX to Nairobi. I think it's cheaper because it doesn't have to head north to make the stop.

Anyway, I am really psyched, as this leaves me more money to spend while I am there.

Thanks for the advice though. Prior to finding this fare, Virgin Atlantic was definitely the best deal I could find, but much more that I really wanted to pay.

3. With the money you save may I suggest you go to a spa on Lake Victoria?
It goes for about $250 total, for two nights for 2 people.

We had a great time.

We will be a group of 7 women and will have a blast wherever we go!

Thanks for the suggestion.

7. Well he is hard to miss.
Very dark skin, but he has blue eyes and would not be caught dead in anything but an AC/DC shirt.
