Let's axe the 'Ax Men' (finding a "reality show" based on your occupation)

It's a pretty funny feeling turning on the tube and finding a "reality show" based on your occupation.

Such was the moment last Sunday when my remote bumped into the Ax Men, a program centered around 4 logging companies in Oregon.

A good part of what I do on a daily basis to earn my living involves holding up a chainsaw. I have all sorts of them, from little ones designed to be used 8o feet up a giant tree, to great big ones designed to cut the sucker down. I even built my house with a chainsaw being the primary tool.

I'm not a big reality TV kinda guy. I don't follow American Idol, and though I find the one where teams race around the globe kind of interesting, I know I would suck at it; everywhere we landed I would want to stop and check the place out. Not the way to win a race, I know.

So it was with a bit more interest than usual I decided to give the Ax Men a view.

Big mistake.

These guys are embarrassing.

From their expletive loaded dialogue to their "I just fell out of a bar" crew members, these guys leave a lot to be desired.

FULL story at link.

1. I'm sort of prepared to cringe at that "Carrier" reality program, myself.
The commercials have an element of strife-laden interaction, and a "confessional" quality as well.

Reality shows do that crap. If it were just professionals doing their job, what "fun" would that be?

2. Glad to read your reaction
I too watched the first episode and was taken aback. I am peripherally connected to the logging industry as a Designer/Builder. I have numerous connections in the world of wood. Great people all.
My senses told me that these guys were the bottom of the barrel. I felt embarrassed for them as they were clearly exploited for the thrill of our voyeuristic view of reality.
