I want to work on retirement health benefit package
Something to negotiate for in our next round coming up in a year or so.

I'd love to free that up for people to retire if they wish at 55. The amount of employees that would take advantage of such a plan is yet to be determined (survey?) but in talking with people it would not be overwhelming thus the financial burden on the employer is probably not going to be all that great.

I am talking about the age 55 until Medicare. That 10 years or so gap.
Our retirement package is set at 20 years of service and age 55 at 2.7% (CalPERS).

Is there a forum or place I can go to discuss retirement healthcare in detail?
Any of you bargained for such a thing for those 55 until Medicare?

We currently have nothing but saving account that would have to be started early.
As it stands now, for the working employee, they are covered and for one dependant it is a cost and for more than one a higher cost each paycheck (2 weeks).

I was thinking if we could get something like this:

* 10 years a service minimum
* Ability to maintain membership in employer's group
* Greatly reduced rate from "outside" purchase
* Rate to be deternmined (I have to do more work)

Thanks for any help!

3. Look here, click on LOCAL 251 Contract 2006 - 2008

Start here: http://www.ci.omaha.ne.us/HumanResources/labor_relations/ee_group_summary.asp

Then click civilian bargaining. Then click union contract.

Then click the LOCAL 251 Contract 2006 - 2008

Let me know what happens.
