Half a million gorcery workers up for contract negotiations - 12/29/06

The next 18 months could prove tumultuous for groceries and grocery workers as nearly half a million contracts are up for negotiation. The United Food and Commercial Workers have been shoring up solidarity as UNITE-Here did with 2006’s Hotel Workers Rising Campaign. Some of the issues that will be brought to the table across the country are affordable health care and fair wages. Until the end of the year grocery workers are expressing their solidarity across the country by wearing stickers in store that say “grocery workers and community members for good jobs and affordable health care.”
