Congress: Are you with our kids? Free call to Congress!!!

SEIU members and activists were a strong force behind the recent vote by Congress to renew and expand the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP). Last week, President Bush vetoed the bill and denied healthcare for 4 million children.

We need to keep the pressure on. Congress will vote on Oct. 18 to override President Bush's veto of SCHIP. It takes two-thirds of the House to overturn a presidential veto. If Congress fails to override the president, this program will expire in November and along with it, access to health care for millions of children.

Call your Representative and make your voice heard

1. Call 1-866-544-7573

2. Ask for your Representative's office Find your Representative (enter your zip code in the upper left-hand corner)

3. Tell them: I urge you to provide health coverage to 4 million more uninsured children by overriding the veto of the Children's Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act (H.R. 976).

SCHIP provides health coverage to 6 million low-income children whose parents work but can't afford the cost of private insurance. Kids get doctor visits, medicine, and the healthcare they need. Every member of Congress needs to hear that we support expanded health coverage for kids and that we want President Bush's veto overturned. Our voice will make a difference!

Learn more about how we're standing up for children.
