The Douglas County Board will vote Tuesday on a two-year union contract for Douglas County sheriff's deputies that offers less than the current contract.

The proposal contains no unionwide pay raise and drops the annual uniform allowance for one year.

Longtime employees, however, would be in line for increased pay through the addition of a new step to the union's built-in pay plan: Senior-level deputies, sergeants and lieutenants would receive a 2 percent salary increase in 2011 and another 2 percent increase in 2012.

"There is no cost-of-living bump, and we are giving up our clothing allowance. That helps quite a bit with the budget for this year," said Deputy Jim Maguire, the union representative.

About 125 personnel are members of the union, which does not include captains, the chief deputy and the sheriff.

Officers agreed to forgo their annual $1,250 uniform allowance for one year, starting in October.
