Unions expecting GOP retribution

WASHINGTON, Nov. 7 (UPI) -- U.S. labor leaders say they expect to face some serious payback from Congress for their backing of Democratic candidates in the midterm elections.

An expected hostile Congress led by pro-business Republicans will likely roll back regulations on business and also attack laws on union organizing, union officials said.

"The loss of the U.S. House of Representatives is a real setback," said Gerald McEntee, president of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees union.

The Detroit Free Press said Sunday one of the expected casualties will be the so-called card check law aimed at making it easier to unionize workplaces. Other losses for labor are expected to include prevailing wage laws, layoffs and cuts to the National Labor Relations Board.

1. well, it's not as if the Dems were going *pass* the card check law
...had they held on to the House...

Basically, it's time for the Unions to contemplate strategic -- and not just electoral -- retribution against corporados and their Washington toadies.

We're in a more 30's-situation, I think.....

4. It's WAAAAY past time...

...about 20 yrs past time, if you ask me.

The public's perception of private sector Unions and it's workers has been so completely and perversely poisoned by the jackbooted, lock-stepping anti-union C of C propaganda machine that there's little public support anymore. Now they're going after the teachers & public sector unions, still controlling the message. If things don't change, and I mean NOW, I fear I may live to see the day where Unions no longer exist in this country. But if the chickens (poor & middle class Tea-hadists & red-state red-necks) keep voting for Col. Sanders (Pukes & Corporatists), there's little that can be done. :(
