Machinists Union Urges No Vote And Strike Authorization At Cessna

http://www.laborradio.org/node/14165

By Doug Cunningham

International Association of Machinists members could strike Cessna Aircraft. The union is urging its members to vote no on a proposed seven-year contract from the company. Voting is set for Saturday, just a day before the old contract expires. Machinist’s District 70 says Cessna wants permanent cuts with no hope of improvement, even in economic good times. The contract proposal would force union workers to switch to a different health care plan wit ha 160 percent increase in premium payments . The health care switch would cost workers an average of $4000 to $5000 more per year. The machinists represent 2400 workers at Cessna.

2. Cessna needs to take a hard look at what just
occurred in NY at the Mott's walkout.

And 7 years is way too long for a contract to run.
