Toyota moving 32 to full-time

PRINCETON, Ind. -- Steady improving sales of vehicles produced at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indiana (TMMI) in Gibson County are credited by the company with bringing the first hiring of full-time production team members there since 2006.

Kelly Dillon, manager of TMMI's public affairs, announced Friday that the company plans to fill 32 full-time positions, beginning in late September.

"We will hire the 32 team members from the variable work forces staff who are already working at TMMI for Aerotek, our variable work force staffing company," Dillon said.

"At this time, this is the only hiring of TMMI team members we can confirm.

"It is always based on need and sustainable volume demand for the Highlander, Sequoia and Sienna." Dillon said, "It is very exciting for our company and is a positive sign for Toyota."

TMMI did not lay off any team members during the economic downturn.
