Dresser Rand Keeps Production Lines Moving Despite Strike, Still No New Negotiations

Painted Post -- It is day 3, and the first workday, that more than 400 union workers at Dresser Rand in Painted Post are on strike, upset over a health plan and other changes to their new contract.

The strike has been going on since Saturday morning, after the old contract expired.

Members of the Local 313 IUE-CWA Union say they deserve better.

"Well, the deductibles are really high," says Union President Steve Coates. "As much as $2500 on a deductible. But, the out-of-pocket expenses can go as high as $6,000 to $7,000. That's quite an expense; that's 15 to 20 percent of an employee's wages."
