Threats against employees of the Internal Revenue Service have been on the rise. Last year the number of investigated threats passed 1,000 and two years ago the IRS was granted the right to bring armed guards as protection against “potentially dangerous” taxpayers. According to the Wall Street Journal access to technology and the Internet has amplified the voices tax protestors.

1. The Romans had problems with tax collectors too.
The tax collector had to go around with Roman soldiers in order to keep from being attacked. Tax collectors are seen as traitors to the over burden poor.

3. The IRS was once into my hide for >$20,000
I faced the possibility of garnished wages and frozen bank accounts. My offer to settle for a lesser amount was rejected. I survived, enduring five years of oppressive payments, but at no time during this ordeal did the thought of harming any IRS worker cross my mind. I believe those who make threats - or even fantasize about doing it - are prone to violence, regardless of the target of their aggression. Anyone who has such thoughts needs to get into counseling immediately.
