MADE IN USA guide for DUers

There are several lists of Made in the USA on the DU. This will be a permanent location to find these items. I'll kick the post every time it gets near the bottom of the labor page or so.

http://www.americansworking.com/

This will start us off. Please feel free to add to this list. List your hand made items here too. Try to use made in USA materials for this. I remember buying a craft show item with plastic flowers a few years back. They still had the Made in China tag on them.

3. Thanks for posting
I was just at an event where the US Census had a booth. It gave out hats and other freebies, all of which said, "Made in China."

We have to do something to make sure the government buys American. The federal government should be showcasing what Americans can do, manufacture, create.

6. K & R and many thanks
We need more sites like this one. Though it is incomplete, it's a start.
Off the top of my head, I thought of two additions. Dr. Bronner's soap, which I have used for about 40 years now, (made in Escondido, CA) and Wigwam socks, which I wear religiously now (made in Sheboygan, WI).

9. Unfortunately this site is very out-of-date. Some products listed are
no longer made in U.S. (Polartec, e.g.) and some are just no longer in business (Kwik-Kut e.g.)

27. According to their website Polartec still manufactures in the US
but it isn't excluysively in the US any longer since they opened a facility in China in 2007. You can still buy mill-direct made in USA Polartec products online from a Milldirect venture run by former employees of the Malden Mills retail store.

12. Paul Reed Smith Guitars
http://www.prsguitars.com/

Great company, great guitars. Paul is a terrific guy and treats his employees well. (I'm pretty sure he's a progressive.) PRS guitars are made in Stevensville, Md. They are best known for their electric guitars but they have recently started making acoustic guitars and amplifiers.

15. now if someone could find me a coffee maker not made in china.
Edited on Sat Nov-28-09 11:16 AM by unapatriciated
been making coffee the old fashion way (boiling water and drip by hand) for six months.
We stopped buying things made in china a year ago, my coffee maker died six months ago and have not found one that isn't made in china (and that includes bunn).
Every single bunn coffee maker we have seen in all the stores listed on their web site in our area have made in china right on the box.
