Sign the AFSCME health care petition!!!

http://www.unionvoice.org/campaign/afscme_HC_petition

Today, many Americans, especially those covered by union contracts, enjoy decent wages and health care coverage. But even for those workers, and for many millions across the country, health insurance is increasingly unaffordable -- and one of the most contested issues at the bargaining table.

As AFSCME members, we can do something about the health care meltdown.

Sign the AFSCME health care petition. Our petition calls on President Bush to address the health care crisis of cost, coverage and quality without shifting more of the financial burden on to working families.

Shamefully, America is the only industrialized nation that does not guarantee health care as a right of citizenship. Instead, our health care system is set up to maximize profit and minimize care for those who cannot afford it.

In this country, if you can’t afford increasing premiums and co-payments -- you'd better not get sick.

Sign the AFSCME health care petition now. Tell President Bush that we won’t stand by while premiums and co-payments keep going up and while millions are uninsured.

Our petition will be sent to President Bush and to the Citizens' Health Care Working Group, a committee formed by Congress to tackle the issue of American health coverage.

Together we can make a difference,

“As an AFSCME member, a nurse and a taxpayer I know that the uninsured are charged triple what insured people pay when they go to a doctor’s office. And that expense is passed on to all of us.”
Joyce Tiddei
President of AFSCME Local 3145
