Pres. Franklin D. Roosevelt unveils the Civil Works Administration, a partner to the Civilian Conservation Corps, to create construction jobs, mainly improving or constructing buildings and bridges - 1933


November 9, 1935 - The Congress of Industrial Organizations (CIO) was formed to expand industrial unionism. Key members of the CIO included the Steelworkers, Auto Workers and Textile Workers. The CIO merged with the American Federation of Labor (AFL) in 1955 to form the AFL-CIO.
