We will sit back and say, "I think the government should do something. I bet if they unionize, they will be in a better situation." We will sit there and point fingers saying "go here, do this;" the key word being sit, because no one is willing to get up and do it themselves.
When we ask these passionate Americans why they don't do any thing, the answer is always the same. "What can we do? It's those darn large corporations closing down the middle class Ma and Pa stores. It's the government letting in illegal immigrants. You know, I blame Wal-Mart and their nonunion attitude. It's those damn Chinese importing products for half the price. It's GM's fault for building to many SUV's." To me the answer is very clear. The average American poses as passionate, because when it comes down to getting up and walking the walk, all of the sudden we as American are crippled.
I see article upon article of how Wal-Mart is the devil. Writers, bloggers and individual people will say how we should not shop at Wal-Mart because they import their products from outside the United States. These people will be very passionate about their argument and as they should be too. But I guarantee every one of these people has come upon this scenario.
Bob who is a passionate American was with Jan, a good friend of his who was interested in buying a blender. Jane says to Bob, "you know Bob, I really need a blender." Bob replies, "well I have some time, lets’ go drive around and look for a store." Bob points out a Sears, Jane Says "nah, I saw their blenders in an ad, they are too expensive for what I need." Jane turns the corner and sees Wal-Mart and says "hey they have cheap blenders, let’s go there. “Bob says, I don't shop at Wal-Mart, they are ruining the American Economy, but hey there's Target. Wal-Mart is one of the largest retail stores in America developed by an American. In the grand scheme of things, he did what he had to do to be a successful business owner. He stumbled across a strategy that would earn him his success, but it was the Americans that were played as fools. Fortunately, we can only blame one person and that person is our self. Passionate Americans are blaming companies like Wal-Mart for the demise of American industrialization and the loss of jobs. It is not their fault. It is not their fault that they are trying to sustain a business and earn profits. That is what large corporations do. It is the American peoples fault for shopping there. It is their fault for not understanding the situation that has been developed due to their actions. Yet I can walk into Wal-Mart at 2:00AM and still see long lines at the registers.
Even as a small business owner my self, (I mean real small, The Breadwinner has been open for only 2 weeks) I find that larger Pro American Labor organizations will defer to help me on my quest because of the technicality that they can not profit from it or because it is a small inconvenience. As an American, I have learned to adapt and build a tolerance with the mentality that you can not please every one, because in America, every one wants to be pleased. Because this is how organizations are run in America, there will only one outcome. The rich will get richer… and the poor will get poorer.
These examples can go on forever, considering the Americans mentality for letting the other guy do it. I will wait till the next blog to post more examples or until I get more motivation from posing Pro American organizations or citizens. I will probably be back on tomorrow...
