OSHA cites Morgan Linen, proposes $48K in fines

Morgan Linen Service Inc. of Menands has been cited by the federal government for 21 alleged safety and health violations at its Broadway plant.

The linen textile rental service faces $47,600 in fines proposed by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

OSHA said the problems include platforms that are not properly guarded with standard railings, an unguarded floor opening, non-functioning eye wash stations and an improperly secured ladder.

“These conditions must be addressed promptly and effectively so workers are not exposed to potentially fatal asphyxia and amputation hazards,” said Edward Jerome, OSHA’s area director.

Company officials did not return a phone call seeking comment. OSHA said the company has 15 business days to comply, request a conference with OSHA or contest the citations and proposed fines.
