A Rite Aid worker representing more than 550 employees from the company's massive distribution center in Lancaster, California, will lead a union rally and afterwards attend the annual shareholder meeting at 9:00 AM on Thursday, June 25, 2009 in New York City.

For more than a year, Rite Aid workers in Lancaster have been attempting to negotiate their first union agreement with management. Rite Aid's massive interference in the workers efforts to form a union and its failure to bargain in good faith with employees are seen as a prime example of why efforts to pass the Employee Free Choice Act are so important.

The rally will be held at 9:00 AM in Times Square at the corner of 7th Avenue and 42nd Street. The shareholder meeting will be at 10:30 AM at the offices of Skadden, Arps, Four Times Square, 37th Floor, New York, NY.

Angel Warner, a 10-year Rite Aid inventory control employee from the Lancaster distribution center will speak at both the rally and the shareholder meeting. She is 49-years old, a mother of two children, and lives in Long Beach, CA. Ms. Warner was one of the Rite Aid workers who initiated the union drive at the distribution center.

Warner will be accompanied by representatives from other Rite Aid unions and the AFL-CIO.
