Please help me choose the right union-made car!

Hi everyone, I would appreciate your advice. I don't know much about cars. I'm currently driving a 10-year-old Toyota Corolla and have liked it very much but want to buy American next time(and I don't mean an American brand, with parts that were made somewhere else and assembled by workers in some other country). What could I get in a similar price range, with the qualities I have liked in the Corolla (e.g., safety, durability, reliability, and good gas mileage), with union-made parts and assembled here by union workers? Thanks for any tips you may have!

If you’re in the market for a new car and you want to support good union jobs at the same time, check out a website that lists vehicles made by union workers in this country.

The “UAW Made” guide provides information for consumers who want to buy vehicles produced by workers who enjoy the benefits and protections of a union contract. All the vehicles are made in the United States or Canada by members of the UAW, Canadian Auto Workers (CAW) or IUE-CWA.

The list includes cars, vans, pickups and SUVs made by UAW and CAW members.

Here’s another incentive to buy a union-made car: The buzz at this year’s North American International Auto Show was all about the union-made vehicles. In fact, the show’s sponsors named the redesigned Ford F-150 the 2009 North American Truck of the Year.

Looking to go green? All three U.S. automakers also have made giant strides at improving fuel economy. Domestic manufacturers now are offering consumers options to conserve fuel and save money, including a dozen models of hybrid cars and trucks, flex-fuel vehicles, advanced energy-saving transmissions and clean diesel technologies.

General Motors has 20 different vehicles that surpass 30 miles per gallon, and the Chevrolet Malibu exceeds the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry in fuel efficiency. At Chrysler LLC, there are 11 flex-fuel vehicles in their lineup and it is a leader in electric neighborhood vehicles. And don’t forget it was Ford that introduced the first-ever hybrid SUV, the Escape.

5. According to this article, you can get a union-made Corolla

A UAW plant in Fremont, California, makes Corollas and the Pontiac Vibe (almost identical to the Toyota Matrix, a sort of Corolla stationwagon and a great car). The workers are facing some furloughs, though, as the company says it wants to avoid layoffs. Don't know where the parts come from.
