OSHA Extends Comment Period for Proposed Rule on Cranes and Derricks

http://safety.blr.com/news.aspx?id=112034

December 04, 2008

OSHA has extended the public comment period for 45 days on the agency's Cranes and Derricks Proposed Rule. The proposal, originally published in the October 9, 2008, Federal Register, addresses the key hazards associated with construction cranes and derricks.

OSHA extended the comment period because of the length of the original Federal Register notice, the comprehensive nature of the proposed rule, and the number of requests for public comment contained within the Notice. The agency will be scheduling a public hearing soon.

Public comments must be submitted by January 22, 2009. For more information on submitting comments, click here.

1. Very interesting - that means a final rule would come under Obama.
Methinks it might wind up being delayed a tad as they reformulate it to their liking.
