Congress will hold hearings about possible violations involving the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, or OSHA.
In a Seven On Your Side investigation, we showed you the number of times the state's OSHA office reduces fines involving workplace accidents with violations. We dug through nearly four years worth of state reports.
Our investigation found OSHA reduces fines nearly seventy percent of the time. Many of those accidents involved fatalities and repeat offenders.
Thursday, the House of Representatives will discuss possible under-reporting of workplace injuries and illnesses. Both the Senate and the House requested extensive audits of the agency.
