Do You Remember The "Look for the Union Label" Song?
You can hear it here ---> http://unionsong.com/u103.html

We used to see ads on tv with a group of ladies singing it. Since my folks worked sewing in a clothing factory and belonged to the Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America, this song was always close to my heart.

1. Yep!
Remember when Al Gore sang it, and the Republicans used it as an oppo against him? (Unfair of them as usual).

There's a Labor Choir in Seattle. They're great! they sing in the annual Figgy Pudding (Christmas) fundraising event, and they wear hard hats decorated with Christmas lights.

4. I don't recall Gore singing it
That was nice even if the bastards used it against him.

Here's the site for the Labor Chorus, their photos page --> http://www.seattlelaborchorus.org/photos.html

9. For years, he used to tell a joke to union audiences that his mom sang it to him as a lullaby
So in 2000, the ratb*stards in the MSM pretended it was another example of Gore "lying". It was part of one of the more disgraceful events in the most disgraceful election ever - - professional pundits watched a tape of Gore telling the joke, with people on screen laughing in response, and the pundits pretended they couldn't figure out why Gore said such a crazy thing.

Howler History with the details here (scroll down to where it says "Howler History: No Joking Matter"):

8. Look for the union label
When you are buying a coat, dress or blouse.
Remember somewhere our union's sewing
our wages going to feed the kids and run the house,
We work hard but who's complaining.
Thanks to the I.L.G. we're paying our way.
So, always look for the union label,
it says we're able
to make it in the U.S.A.

happier days.....

14. The International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union was once one of the largest labor unions is no more

It merged and doesn't have the $ needed for advertising of that kind today.

http://www.kerala.com/wiki-ILGWU

The International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union was once one of the largest labor unions in the United States, one of the first U.S. unions to have a primarily female membership, and a key player in the labor history of the 1920s and 1930s. The union, generally referred to as the "ILGWU" or the "ILG," merged with the Amalgamated Clothing and Textile Workers Union in 1995 to form the Union of Needletrades, Industrial and Textile Employees (UNITE). UNITE merged in 2004 with the Hotel Employees and Restaurant Employees Union (HERE) in 2004 to create a new union known as UNITE HERE. The two unions that formed UNITE in 1995 represented only 250,000 workers between them, down from the ILGWU's peak membership of 450,000 in 1969.

The label had a great bug on it too.
