UFPJ and PDA Training and Lobby Days

Here's a chance to organize, train, and lobby against war and for impeachment. United for Peace and Justice, and Progressive Democrats of America have teamed up and organized a series of activities in Washington, D.C., on May 20, 21, and 22. That's a weekend full of training both to lobby Congress and to organize back home, and a Monday of lobbying Congress face-to-face.

To take part in everything, you need to register with both UFPJ and PDA.

1. impeachment

I believe that Feingold has the winning plan and that is the impeachment of the whole mess of this administration. I wish all of the democrats would get with the same discussion. Get all of the publicity we can to impeach. Talk about all of the lies, cover-ups, questions about complicity in 911, etc. Feingold is wanting censure and I believe everybody should run on the plan to impeach and uncover the truth of this secretive administration. The repubs want the dems to have a plan. I would give them a plan. Also, I have been reading about a suit filed by Ellen Mariani on GWB and others in 2003. I find that this suit was publicized quite a bit, but it just disappeared. Her husband was on Flight 77 that "was shot down" in PA.
I have read DU about a year now and this is my first time to post. I already know a lot of your opinions.

Problem with going "up top" with the (negative) agenda of "Impeach! Indict! Imprison!" in a midterm election year: it energizes the oppostion far, far more than the supporters. I don't know of an ABB advocate who isn't hoping for just that. For sure, that's already factored into the GOTV on the left. The neocon-fascists would love a video clip of some Dem saying it - it'd be a cattle-prod for the lethargic mad cows on the right.

The Dems must paint an alternative picture. Peace. Prosperity. Labor equity.

4. Good slogans "PEACE PROTECTS" and "IMPEACH FOR PEACE"

I like Peace Protects because it is a simple truth that exposes the lie of the Bushworld "Military Force Protects" propaganda (actually, their policy is "For every problem there is a solution, and that solution is "Military Force.")

I like Impeach for Peace because it is a call for specific, effective action to attain the goal.

Until the American people unequivocally reject Bush and Cheney and their exercise of dictatorial power, torture, policy of criminal "preemptive" war, we CANNOT begin to repair the devastation they have wrought.

Only when they have been forced from power and replaced with a legitimate administration -- even a Hastert administration -- will we have a shot at re-building the bridges burned and bringing Sunni, Kurd, and Shia Iraqis to the table with European allies, Russia, China, and the Arab League to begin the hard word of finding a solution that all parties have a stake in.
