This is no shake-up
We all knew Scotty was on his way out. Rove's been demoted (not really, but it looks like it) and Andy Card is gone.

There are no big surprises here. It's not really a shake-up when it's business as usual with the war-mongering, corruption and screwing over the United States.

2. Would that it were so. Until they make him turn in the Chimpy remote
control, I won't believe he's been demoted.

5. Yeah, the PR friends of a PR whore. Of course they're going to try

to make it seem like this is relevant. Card and McClellan are meaningless, and Rove's real function is unofficial anyway. He could do his job with the title of Girl Scouts Chairman.

16. Josh Marshall is suggesting perhaps he lost his security clearance.
Over the Plame outing, of course. You can't be a policy advisor on foreign affairs without a top-level security clearance, after all...

4. Look, guys with egos the size of Rove's feel this is a demotion!
Haven't you ever experienced that where you work? Somebody gets a promotion, then is put back in his old job. What did YOU think happened? Somebody wasn't happy with his performance in the new position, huh?

Well, i'm sure that's exactly what's going on at the WH too.

Besides, I think Shrub is putting distance between himself and Rove because he doesn't want touched by that "pending indictment"!

6. I agree with the part about the distance...
But I do think this all show. Rove's still doing business as usual. He's advising the pres plus working his lardass off to keep a repuke majority in the fall.

7. agreed
As I stated in another post, Snotty's time was up, and Rove is simply being positioned to steal the 2006 midterms. It's not a shakeup until Donald Rumsfeld is out, or Condi or Cheney or Rove (for real) or the Leaker in Chief.

8. Of course it's not a shake-up.
Scotty was just the guy who spouted lies for the camera. And Rove will keep on being Rove until he is hustled out of the WH in handcuffs. The puppeteers are still in place. Nothing's changed.

10. They STILL think the public is stupid and only needs to "learn"
about the "good things" in Iraq and elsewhere. This refusal to change policy -- in favor of only changing their brainwashing techniques and spokesholes -- is an insult to the public. ("We're not DOING anything wrong, the public is just dumb and isn't GETTING IT that we're doing the right thing.")

11. Rove will still have his clearance, and an inside line to Bush.
Bush can't function without him; the two have been inseparable since Bush ran for Gov. Scotty's departure means nothing. Andy Card? Who?

I love how they're making it sound as if Bolten is making all these brazen decisions while the WH looks on in horror. He's got 'em shakin' in their boots!! :eyes:

13. Yup, It's all just for show
Rove could give a shit what his title is - as long as he still has the power he needs and wants, he doesn't care.

And Scotty was always replaceable - that position has been a farce for 5 years now, it has no meaning so replacing Scotty means squat.

This is all just so the Repubs can point to something (anything!) on the Sunday am talk shows when the topic comes up.

Nothing is really going to change.

Same old, same old.

More importantly, are Democratic leaders playing chess or tiddlywinks? - At this point I cannot tell.
