Is anyone going to see "United 93"?
Does it look like it is worth seeing, or does it look like it going to sully the memories of American heroes to make some war-hawks look good?

4. me too
it looks like a theatrical release of a made for tv movie to me. So sick of the hash and rehash of this crapola.

5. Me neither... why would I want to see a Hollywood depiction
There will be about an ounce worth of truth in it and frankly it seems kind of morbid.

8. "9/11'd to death." Damn that's a good one. That pretty much sums up...
...exactly how I've been feeling. I did not know the perfect words to express it until I just read that.:hi:

6. NO - I can't think of anything I'd less like to see
Edited on Tue Apr-18-06 07:08 PM by karynnj
The story of a doomed plane flying out of Newark. It may be the only thing worse than a Bush speech - which I haven't watched since Nov 2004.

No. It shouldn't have ever been filmed.
It's too soon- way too soon- for a film like this.

7. I already know they're going to die, and on top of that 9/11 isn't a feel
good sort of thing. I hate films where people die, and I hate Hollywood versions of stories like that. You know there's going to be the fictional five year old, the fictional old man with heart problems... it seems cheap and morbid. I don't think we really need a film about it, we all remember it thanks so much.

I'd walk out of that movie missing 9/10. The world has gone plumb nuts since then.

11. Nope, because who's story is it ?
Is it the real story, told by the black box recorders and the airmen forbidden to talk about what really happened that day, or is it the 'Official Version According to Cheney and Bush' ?

And the entire subject is so damn depressing enough already without being spoon fed government propaganda about ot as well.

20. Maybe... It depends on the reviews.
I have a few movie reviewers I usually agree with. If they recommend it, I'll probably go take a look.

I have zero desire to see it.

25. No way. Even if it turns out to be well done, accurate and respectful.
It's just too disturbing. I work in aviation, and it's way too easy to imagine what happened without seeing a movie about it.

29. I think I would like to see it. . .
I know it will be painful, but I'd like to know more about what happened that day. And it can't do too much to make the warhawks look good - one of the heroes was a gay athlete.

30. 9/11 is still fresh in my mind.
I have no desire to go through it again in the theatre. If it were a documentary rather than a souped up Hollywood production, I might consider seeing it in 5 years. The fundies who loved "Passion of Christ" will rush out to see it.

31. I'm torn. Don't know if I want to see it to learn more or not
Also, what is the value of knowing more about these poor people's last moments of life? I just agonize about it.

May they rest in peace. I don't know what else to do.

32. I'll see it
I love the director and I'm intrigued to see what he does with the story. He directed a sensitive, yet powerful film about Bloody Sunday (the 1972 massacre of protestors by British soldiers in N. Ireland).

As for the exploitation angle - the families of the passengers gave their blessing to the film, so I don't think that's relevant.
