PLEASE HELP US BRING BACK THE AMERICA WE ONCE KNEW
Edited on Sun Apr-16-06 04:25 PM by BigBearJohn

HELP US BRING BACK THE AMERICA WE KNEW

We have been focusing too much on the mess the Republicans
have created, almost to the point of glorifying the problem.
We need to re-focus and offer true, substantial RELIEF to the masses.

When a man is thirsty, you offer him water.
When a man in hungry, you offer him food.
When a man is cold, you offer him warmth.
When a man is confused, you offer him comfort.
When a man is in despair, you offer him hope.
When a man has no job, you help him find one.
Finally...
When a man has problems, you offer him SOLUTIONS!

If a man is thirsty, he doesn’t want to hear about water shortages.
He wants to know where the water is.

Let’s give a thirsty America the water
it so desperately wants and needs.

The greatest religions of the world offer hope and relief
from suffering. In other words: SALVATION. It's time the
Democratic Party offers true salvation to all our citizens.
BRING BACK AMERICA NOW!!! WE CAN AND WILL DO IT!!!

...tendered with love by Big Bear John, a message of hope and renewal this Easter

2. You cannot enact solutions without cleaning up the mess first sadly...
With enough people you can form groups to work on both but you cannot ignore one to focus on another or the problem will never go away.

Cleaning up the mess IS part of the solution.

5. There are plenty of individuals who are focusing on certain problems.
This site is a big tent, many are working all different ends of the spectrum which is what is surely needed.

Those who are finding solutions are pretty much being ignored by the powers that be, would you not agree?

7. Yes. Absolutely. And that's why I posted this thread.

The point being we can't ONLY complain about the evil republicans.
We need to get our leaders to start telling the masses how we
are going to help them. We need to tell the masses what we plan
to DO. And guess what? The Democrats ARE finally doing this:
Check out the following link: http://www.democrats.org/agenda.html
"Democrats Offer a Bold New Direction"

I think we need to support their effort BIG TIME.
I am just reaffirming what the Dems are starting to do now.
Furthermore, we need to reach out to BOTH sides and unite this country.
Remember the old song? United we stand, divided we fall.

I'm so tired of the division in this country.
I long for a president who inspires us to work together,
instead of amplifying our differences.

Well, things may never be perfect, but we can always make things better.

20. Bullshit. It's never been that way.
Conquest
Slavery
Exploitation

Even in the 20th century, with laws helping the working class, it was still easy to lose one's "economic viability".

We have NEVER been a true Christian nation.

And never will be.

For we call them "Judeo-Christian" values; which are neither Judeo or Christian.

The Democratic Party (the elected ones) knows what's going on, and their inaction leaves precious little for inference or even conjecture.

23. I always believed that this IS what America is all about BBJ!
I can feel the love you put into this John, inspired.

I like Slit Skirt's idea down-thread though I don't know how many could afford the time from work. We need We the People to do it, but can We the People survive without work long enough to make a difference?

On second thought, if the economy continues it's down slide there may be plenty of people that have to join in to demand help and solutions.

Time will show what our leaders truly value. And it hasn't been looking as if it's us for awhile now. We do need to shut down the country and force our leaders to help us find solutions. The gov has to make everything so complicated and that's half the problem.

We must simplify as you've outlined above or stay a broken democracy, imo. Whatever happened to just doing what needs to be done for the good of all?

Thank you sweet man, for caring and thinking about how to solve the mess we are in.:loveya:

You let him, and you make sure it is counted.

The party's policy seems to be: Get over it. We will decide who votes and how it is counted.

30. John, I think you hit the nail on the head, especially when
you say, "If a man is thirsty, he doesn't want to hear about water shortages. He wants to know where the water is."

I believe that the elected/selected leaders in this country of both major parties have gotten caught up in political rhetoric. Yes, it has always been that way, sometimes more so than others. It is so now. Each side is pointing fingers, calling each other names, bragging they have the better idea, accusing the other side of being the cause of all the problem, but there has been little talk of real solutions.

I will definitely check out the link you provided to democrats.org. If they have viable solutions, then great, I will definitely join in. I have never given up hope that things can and will change, even though I admit that sometimes it's hard to keep my chin up.

I do not believe that we can or should sit back and wait for "the leaders" to lead, which is what I think you are saying here, John. This country DOES belong to We The People, but I think too many people have taken the easy way out, content to sit back, complain about what's going on, but not being willing to do something. One person doing one little thing will not make a big difference, but many people doing things will make a difference. And that is what we have to do, regardless of what party we align ourselves with (and yes, Republican lurkers, I'm talking to you too). If you don't like what's going on in this country, the do something to help change it, even if it's sending an email to your representative or senator about something that concerns you.

Too many of us have forgotten that this IS our country. It's time to start remembering again.

Good post, John. Recommended.

31. IMO the first and most important solution is to regain democracy.
Without a democracy, nothing else can be done at all. This means fixing the voting machines, finding a solution for that. When we do that, everything else will become possible because good people will be elected again.

35. "Theocons" "Theocrats" = Labels that evoke the repugnant. . .
Edited on Mon Apr-17-06 03:39 PM by pat_k

. . .nature of what we are contending with by connecting "theocracy" with the horrible consequences of permitting the neocon empire builders to infiltrate and dominate our government. ("Beware of false prophets. . . By their fruits you will know them." Matthew 7:15-20)

Rev. Neuhaus often misses the mark, but I loved it when he used the terms "theocon" and "theocrat" on Meet the Press this week.

Haven't come across the terms before, but they are terms we should be using. They convey a core truth about the reactionary-christianist-right. Whether monarchy, theocracy, or military dictatorship, it's all fascism -- the belief that a faction has the right to absolute rule.
