Kevin Spacey on Donald Rumsfeld.
The context is his own beleaguered leadership of the Old Vic theatre in London, England.

"People calling for my resignation because of the plays we put on is the height of arrogance," he said. "The critics don't own the theater. I find it galling that they ask for my resignation because they don't like what we do.

(snip)

Among the critics of Spacey's management was the London Evening Standard's Nicholas de Jongh who asked "Is it time for Kevin Spacey to hand over his crown?"

Snorting with derision, Spacey said that taking advice from de Jongh on how to run a theater was "like taking advice on war strategy from Donald Rumsfeld."

2. lol
Sadly, though, I don't think Spacey has been a good manager
of the Old Vic over there.

He's a great actor, though. I hope he does some more films.

4. I haven't followed the fortunes of the Old Vic all that closely, but

from the coverage I have read, after two years in, Spacey's not gotten off of a shaky start. In business, he'd be out the door already. While attendance is up, if things don't improve from a critical and financial standpoint, the Old Vic may be looking hard at exit clauses in Spacey's contract. Not everyone is cut out for management, especially true with artistic types.

He IS a great actor. I try never to miss his films, and I'm still KICKING Myself for not having known beforehand of his performance on Broadway several years ago in "The Iceman Cometh". And while I have many more important things to worry about, being underemployed in BushAmerica means I can't just hop across the pond to the Old Vic to see him in plays there. :grr:
