ABOUT MY SISTER -- PULLING THE PLUG

Okay, we got a lawyer. She is getting the right to life people involved in this case. She has also asked us to testify before the legislature on this topic. We are glad to do that.

For those of you who had questions that you felt that I did not answer about my sister or this situation:

1. We have contacted other facilities. It is a long process and no one is willing to take her.

2. She is cognizant and able to communicate that she wants to live.

3. We would agree to withdraw life support if she were not cognizant.

4. She has insurance and it is paying for her care.

5. We have tried to get a second opinion, but we are getting the runaround trying to find a doctor to give us one. We call them, we ask them to come and see her, they tell us that her current doctor must call them. The current doctor never calls them, but just calls us and tells us that we need to get another doctor.

6. She is in St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital in Houston, TX.

7. This is the third time we have been told that she is "terminal" (although we've never been faced with an ethics committee until now). Other times, we have been told that and she recovered and got out of the hospital and went on with her life. We can't help but question what is going on right now.

8. I don't want your opinion on whether we should unplug my sister or not. I am simply asking for your help in getting this out onto other blogs and into the mainstream news.
