Effective ways to grind our side of the culture wars into fundy's face?

I personally try to throw in a shit or fuck on occasion when I think I'm around a fundy. Sometime if I'm in a particularly daring mood I'll throw in a Jesus H. Fucking Christ. But I save that one for special occasions.

Have you noticed that on Comedy Central and other channels how many beeped words you hear? I started wondering how long does the beep actually have to be? Sometimes I swear it's "FbeepbeepK. Then I started wondering what if they just kind of kept shortening the beep part until it was FUbeepK. You just keep shortening the beep until you can hardly hear it but have an incredibly good feel for what they said. Could the FCC then fine these networks.

I think as long as we can be as much in their face as they are in ours we are at least holding even in the "culture war."

1. I'm leaning strongly toward the notion of saddling up into multiple

posses, and roping and hogtie-ing them.

I think a huge retaining corrale in Grey Bull, Wyoming would be a good spot. Just keep them all in there and feed them whatever's on the menu at Abhu Ghraib.

2. I don't think we need to do much of anything

but hew to the Constitution; ensure that the 1st Amendment remains strong, and watch them howl and squirm.

3. You don't persuade people by offending them or pissing them off.

If you use language you know will be offensive to someone (and it's not just fundies who don't always appreciate the indiscriminate dropping of the F-bomb) you will simply alienate them further and reinforce whatever stereotypes they already believe about liberals and non-believers as immoral and nasty people.

There are effective ways to stick up for your "side," but I tend to think this isn't one of them.

And they end up moving on to someplace like South Carolina. For a while they talked about establishing SC as the Christian State and having everybody move there. I think this is a great solution--let 'em fuck up one state instead of the entire country. And I think if they feel America is "permantly lost" they are more likely to take such a step freeing everyone everywhere else from their scourge.

6. You may be (or not) too young to remember "streaking"

I was a child when that fad hit and we had naked people running into public venues everywhere (in fact my fundy church was streaked during a sermon).

This was shocking beyond belief for the fundies and I'll always remember a sermon he gave predicting Armageddon and the end of the world because of streaking. What a hoot.

Having fun with colorful language just pisses 'em off - and then they do their tiresome "wrath of god" routine all over you. Icky! The engineers of the fundie movement have had lots of time to get their insular reality pretty locked up, so I doubt anything is going to change their world. What we need to be concerned about is where they're trying to change everyone else's, and stop them. But that's political...

On the culture side though, for me, humor is the best weapon of all.

What they seem to want more than anything else is to be taken seriously. The way I see it, that's what they have each other for -- but count me out!

religious beliefs, and that I would thank them to keep their "lifestyle" to themselves. Then I smile and tell them that I think it's nice they've found something to believe in, but as an adult I prefer to exercise my constitutional right to worship according to my own conscience, not theirs.

If they push harder, I just tell them that they've been told that I'm not interested in their religious beliefs. Period. For effect, read the clause from your state's constitution about freedom of religion....that pisses them off.
