Why did Bush visit Chichén Itzá???
Edited on Wed Apr-05-06 06:38 PM by lovuian
Just a theory but as a big Skull & Boner

what a apropo place
It has the mystical Ball court

Legends say that the the winning captain would present his head to the losing capitan, who then decapitates him. While this may seem a strange reward, the Mayans believed this to be the ultimate honor. The winning captian getting a direct ticket to heaven instead of going through the 13 steps that the Mayan's believed they had to go through in order to reach heaven..

Built into one of the exterior walls of the ballcourt is the Temple of the Jaguar, which features another jaguar throne -- since this one was not buried for a thousand years, its red paint and jade spots are long since gone.

Behind this platform is a walled inscription which depicts a tzompantli (rack of impaled human skulls) in relief.

The number seven which was sacred to the Mayans 7 players and if you clap your hands it echoes 7 times...

But the true mystery of the ball court is the Mayan prophecy that Dec.12 2012 is when the Great serpent Kulkuklan will rise from beneath the playing field and end the world for good...

For a Skull & Boner and a Christian Righter looking for the End of Times...what a great place... No wonder he is smiling...

I find it hard to believe Bush is interested in architecture...

Food for thought...
I did see John Stewart show Bush getting scared of the height and stepped down...
