1. How much more of these "last throes" can we stand?
At this rate of acceleration, January will be a record month for US deaths.

As long as most people in this country don't have a stake in in this damnable war, as long as it isn't their sons/daughters/wives/husbands losing their lives, this war will go on indefinitely. Poor and minority kids are nothing but cannon fodder fighting and dying so the kids of the middle and upper classes can continue to shop til they drop and mom and pop won't have to bother their beautiful minds with thoughts about Johnny coming back with his brains and limbs shredded. Only when we ALL have a stake in this war will it come to an end.

And I suggest Jenna, Barbara and Mary Cheney be the first to be called up!

25. That's why Vietanam mobilized a peace movement
If you had a son, a brother, a nephew, or an uncle of draft age, you knew they were at risk of going to Vietnam... or Canada. It made the issue personal and immediate. You had to take a side, one way or the other. The country was torn apart by the opposing stances because everyone in the country was involved.

That's what we lack in this war. Only a narrow segment of the population -- overwhelmingly the poorest and the one with the least political clout -- is paying the price for this mistake. Too many other people, whose sons and daughters will not be volunteering to fight, can glibly support the troops and plaster their SUVs with ribbon stickers. They have no real skin in this game, no matter what the outcome.

18. -RESISTANCE-not INsurgents----whose playing both sides??
-Remember part of the propaganda is to make you think the resistance- err insurgents ( words have power)- is mostly comprised of a lunatic extremist variety that won't compromise-
-Why you should read outside your country---CSIS-(Canadian Intelligence eh)-has a report that shows from Oct 2003-Oct 2004 operations by Iraqi Resistance -80% were aimed at US and other occupying forces-compared to 4.1 percent aimed at civilians-report provides evidence of those attacks being carried out by genuine Iraqi resistance groups>

there are not nearly as many foreign fighters as the media claims
AL ZArqawi--lol--he has more lives than Kaizer Solze--and of course you remember that report- BBC- Iraqi police arrest 2 UK SAS men in a truck, dressed as arabs, with weapons, and explosives in their truck---in relatively peaceful Basra---after that initial report they changed certain details

- It is quite possible that some of the death squads and explosions are not all being done by Iraqis:nopity:

27. it's not just possible, it's a FACT:
http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/2005-09/19/content_3514065.htm

BAGHDAD, Sept. 19 (Xinhuanet) -- Iraqi police detained two British soldiers in civilian clothes in the southern city Basra for firing on a police station on Monday, police said.

"Two persons wearing Arab uniforms opened fire at a police station in Basra. A police patrol followed the attackers and captured them to discover they were two British soldiers," an Interior Ministry source told Xinhua.

The two soldiers were using a civilian car packed with explosives, the source said.

He added that the two were being interrogated in the police headquarters of Basra.

The British forces informed the Iraqi authorities that the two soldiers were performing an official duty, the source said. British military authorities said they could not confirm the incident but investigations were underway.

11. Soldiers are expendable.

"The terrorists want to control the oil. Our way of life will be at risk". George W. Bush (Nov. 2005)

The US will be in Iraq for as long as the Dems in Congress keep funding the Occupation. I am guessing that around 60K troops will be pulled out before the '06 Elections, 100K will stay on the outskirts of the Sunni Triangle and the US Air Force will kill many non-combatents. There will never be a full withdrawl of US Forces from Iraq.

Bush Regime Iraq Successes (Phase 1)

1. Saddam will no longer sell Iraqi oil via the Euro.

2, A military foothold in the ME. Other than Saudi Arabia.

3, No countries will be able to buy Iraqi oil that the U.S. disapproves of.

4. The Multi-Intl. Oil Corps are reaping great profits.

5.The Military Industrial Complex is a booming Industry.

Phase 2?

Not now. Cannon fodder. Expendable. Don't even need to arm them adequately, only a small percentage will die right? WTF are we allowing in this country? It's weird how * and his asshat cabal need the military to carry the weight in their oil wars but are really against supporting the same institutions. Don't we have enough patriots in the military to say enough is enough?

30. Pile em high and then higher

Grass Bush

Pile the bodies high in Austerlitz and Waterloo Iraq
Shovel them under and let me work--
I am the grass; bush; I cover all.

And pile them high in Gettyburg Baghdad
And pile them high in Ypres and Vedum Mossoul and Al Fallaujah

Two years, ten years, and passengers ask the conductor:
What place is this?

I am the grass bush.
Let me work.
